Rock Creek Park borders Brightwood to the West off 16th Street and is truly a gem in our nation’s capital. With its majestic trees, wild animals, and delicate forest aura, it offers visitors an opportunity to reflect and soothe their spirits through the beauty of nature. Rock Creek Park is also a place to play soccer and tennis, picnic, hike, bike, rollerblade, fish, horseback ride, listen to a concert, or attend programs with a park ranger.

Rock Creek Park Tennis Center
16th Street and Kennedy St. NW, 703-291-9888. 25 outdoor courts (15 clay and 10 hard-surface); 5 heated indoor courts during the winter season. This facility, which is located adjacent to the Carter Barron amphitheater, also hosts the Legg Mason Tennis Classic in July.

Carter Barron Amphitheatre

Situated in the midst of ball fields, tennis courts, and lush woodland, the Carter Barron Amphitheater is an outdoor, Greek-style theater that provides a wide variety of excellent entertainment in a dramatic setting with nearly half the productions free to the public.
